In Descent, I explored the question "what does prayer look like"? I used gold and silver metallic to represent the light and energy as it motions upward as well as in a downward effect from above. The three dimensional floral shapes hanging out from the wall are hand painted. The translucent leaf shapes with golden tips were cut out from recycled milk jugs.
I am interested in the effect environment and clothing can have on one's sense of self, identity, action and purpose. I am inspired by the kimono as a silhouette because it fits every body type. An important element of ethical design is for garments to be inclusive for those in society who are often overlooked.
